The Importance of Data across Government in a Post Covid-19 World

As our people, businesses and government organisations join forces to fight the medium and long-term impacts of COVID-19, we would like to invite a select group of individuals to join us for a virtual briefing to discuss how business data and analytics could support public sector progress and collaboration.

We see inter-departmental collaboration pivotal to tackle big issues seen in the UK and Ireland, like the recent pandemic, Brexit and economic recovery. Therefore, in the face of this unprecedented period, our commitment to clients, our colleagues and our communities is stronger than ever before. We have therefore introduced several complimentary resources to help our clients make informed decisions about challenges no one imagined six months ago. Our capabilities provide relevant insights to prioritise emergency management and economic support for the industries, businesses and communities with the most pressing needs. Examples include the assessment of supply chain risk, disruption to workforces, the identification of alternative suppliers and modeling scenarios to aid in economic recovery.

Speaker biographies

Sir Douglas Flint CBE retired as Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc on 30th September 2017, having been appointed to that role in December 2010. For fifteen years prior to this he was HSBC’s Group Finance Director, joining from KPMG where he was a partner. Between 2005 and 2011 he was also a Non-Executive Director of BP plc. Mr Flint was chairman of the Institute of international Finance from June 2012 to December 2016 and was a member of both the Mayor of Beijing’s and the Mayor of Shanghai’s International Business Leaders’ Advisory Councils. Among other roles he is currently Chairman of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Just Finance Foundation and a Trustee of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Sally Block serves as the VP of Global Sales for Dun & Bradstreet Government Solutions. Sally joined Dun & Bradstreet in 2011 as AVP of Dun & Bradstreet’s U.S. Civilian Government Solutions and began leading the Global team in 2019. She has more than 20 years of experience in data and analytics. In her role, she oversees a team of dedicated individuals who bring significant domain expertise in key areas such as compliance, financial services, risk, supply management, master data management and custom analytics.

Anthony J. Scriffignano, Ph.D. serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Data Scientist at Dun & Bradstreet. Scriffignano is an internationally recognized data scientist with experience spanning over 35 years in multiple industries and enterprise domains. Dr. Scriffignano has extensive background in anomaly detection, computational linguistics and advanced inferential algorithms, leveraging that background as primary inventor on multiple patents worldwide. Scriffignano was recently recognized as the U.S. Chief Data Officer of the Year 2018 by the CDO Club, the world’s largest community of C-suite digital and data leaders. He has extensive background in manufacturing and supply chain, maintaining certification as CPIM with ASCM, the largest, internationally recognized non-profit organization for supply chain/manufacturing training and certification.
